Phytoplankton have a crucial role in the conversion of greenhouse gas sources and sinks natural water bodies, such as lakes, rivers, oceans. In response to environmental changes, phytoplankton adapt by altering their carbon utilization strategies, which affect fixation rates fluxes at water–air interface. This paper classifies summarizes main strategies terms acquisition, metabolism, emission. Their acquisition strategy determines uptake rate, while metabolism affects potential. Moreover, emission final net fixation. A systematic study is important for development phytoplankton-based wastewater treatment technologies, understanding algal fixation, assessment bodies. article provides comprehensive ecological bodies offers valuable references related research. Furthermore, our research sheds light on processes phytoplankton. By analyzing under different we can more accurately evaluate impact cycle contribute protection sustainable development.
